Question: Is Gardasil Painful?

I have heard from my friends that Gardasil is really painful! I am thinking twice about having the shot now. Just how painful is the HPV vaccine?

Answer: Many young women have reported a burning or stinging sensation when getting Gardasil. The good news is that the sensation lasts only seconds while the vaccine is being administered.

The burning sensation is not unusual and is not considered to be a rare side effect of the vaccine. Soreness at the injection site is a common side effect and can be expected following the vaccine.

The pain experienced with Gardasil should not deter any young woman from getting the vaccine. The benefits are far greater than a few seconds of pain. Keep in mind that just about all vaccines cause a varying degree of sensations like stinging - Gardasil isn't the only one.
