Dying Reality Star Lives Final Days in the Public Eye

From Lisa Fayed, About.com GuideMarch 11, 2009

British reality TV star Jade Goody is living her final days in the public eye, but not for the reasons you may be thinking. The Big Brother UK star, who is dying of cervical cancer, has been selling the rights to photos and interviews to create a trust fund for her children. According to several media sources, Goody wants to make sure her two boys are well cared for after her death.

Jade Goody has had a love/hate relationship with the British public, but now that she is dying of cervical cancer, the public support has been unconditional. She has become the UK's unofficial spokeswoman for cervical cancer awareness. Her battle with cervical cancer has been very public from the beginning. We have watched Jade's health visibly decline and it is heartbreaking. So many young women have followed her story and it has inspired them to get regular Pap smears. She truly is an amazing woman who has battled her disease with strength, dignity, and passion. Some may feel her choices have been selfish or greedy, but I think Jade Goody has made the best decisions one can possibly make under the circumstances.

What do you think? Do you think Jade Goody is just trying to stay in the limelight or genuinely wants to make sure her kids are financially secure? Leave your thoughts in the "Comments" section below.

I don’t watch much reality TV, and I don’t know about Jade Goody. I am pretty sure, though, that in her place I would do exactly the same thing. I am really glad she has this opportunity to raise money for her kids’ support after she passes. And no matter what her motives, by bringing cervical cancer to the public the way she has, she is saving lives.
